WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Best Liz Fraser impression I've heard in a while

Posted about 1 year ago
That would be Liz Fraser from Cocteau Twins, in case you didn't know. :)This new Ladytron album is making me very very happy indeed. It might not be the revelation that Witching Hour was, but it still shows them at the top of their electro-fueled powers. The tagged song above makes me even wonder, what if Liz Fraser wasn't in fact singing "glossolalia":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossolalia at all, but was actually speaking Bulgarian, As Mira Aroyo does here? Hmmm.(more in comments)

  1. Dale says One of their more upbeat numbers from the new album, I'm Not Scared. BTW, this is making for great workout music. :)

  2. SamTheButcher says Yeah, really good songs, both of 'em. You knew you'd get me with the Liz Frazier ref, didn't you? :)

  4. annieander says The image of you "Flashdancing" to that second song...lock it in...and scene! I think I prefer the 1st actually...very cocteau-esque.

  5. Dale says Flashdancing?!? 0_o Not likely! Running or biking, but not that. What kind of pinko non-red-blooded American male do you take me for? :P

  6. 1234chainsaw says Agreed, it's pretty good and varied record. I was listening to it Monday night when walking to and from the venue where Enon played. I'm passing through London the day Ladytron are playing there (May 15), but unfortunately I cannot do a stopover.

  7. Bartleby says Ladytron has always this ability to induce spunky spasms with their taurine-charged-yet-subtly-dosed electronica. (@Pekka: Sorry to hear you won't be able to do a quick pit stop for some ale in London)

  8. 1234chainsaw says Michael: Yeah, not this time. I'll be transferring from Eurostar from Paris to a train to Leeds, where I'm speaking at a workshop the next day. I only have like 45 minutes or an hour between the trains.

  9. mocha louder says Very nice - i kinda wandered away from the ladytron, but i've been definitely enjoying what i heard of the new album - and yeah - there's definitely a nice cocteau touch on kletva - sorta mixed with some kinda virgin suicide airiness, methinks. for some reason, my fave ladytron song is still "seventeen" from light & magic. maybe it's the pulp meets soft cell kinda groove? -m

  10. Dale says Yeah, I kinda wandered away around Light & Magic, but "Seventeen" brought me around in a hurry. Looking back, that's a really good album. Then again, they don't put out junk.

  14. Dale says ... with ten hours of sleep (still not enough) in between. So demanding! Good thing is, I'm almost recovered and ready to spill.
