So, apparently in Greece they exchange gifts on New Year's Eve, in addition to the other drunken festivities of the night. If this is how the gifts all come out, I could happily pursue this tradition. The mail yesterday bright with it the usual junk mail, a bill, and a large envelope addressed to me by Her Hellenic Hawtness herself, my dear sister Anna. Ditching all the rest, I tore into the package with glee. And what contents!A lovely Christmas card with appropriately festive holiday greetings.A cute Christmas stocking filled with Greek chocolate. (Against all odds, some candy has survived until today.)Four, count 'em, FOUR cd's stuffed with goodness. Three CD's are filled with dance music, a genre to which I'm fairly ignorant, so I'll be diving into those first. The final CD is themed "Some Candy Talking" (only my favorite Jesus & Mary Chain song) and filled with tracks with a sweet theme. And the cover art! The first three feature my new theme for life:*Dance as though no one is watching you**Love as though you have never been hurt before**Sing as though no one can hear you**Live as though heaven is on earth*The second is no less profound:*Life is short. Eat dessert first!*And as if that were not enough, she had a T-shirt made up for me. I tried to recreate it online, because words don't do it justice:
It's now my new favorite shirt, although it is a tad bit small. Tiny little Euros, sheesh!I fully intend to cherish these momentos of a friendship that will no doubt endure. Thanks again, sweetheart!
