MOGachella Lineup

Posted over 5 years ago
I've wanted to go to the Coachella Music & Arts Festival for the past three years, but have never come up with the cash, and the guts, to make the trip. I've used all my standard excuses: don't have the spare cash, can't spend that long from the family, don't want to go and then feel obligated to stick around for the Sunday shows, blah blah blah. Then again, I've never had as good a reason to go as I will next year: MOGachella! We've talked about this for a while, a BIG get-together at one of the biggest concerts in the US. So, if you'll permit me to dream:I want to see New Order at MOGachella! I've never seen them live, and I feel that is the final band that I feel I HAVE to see live before I get any older. Then I bumped into this clip at youtube, and I'm hooked (or Hook-ed, as it were).I'd also like to see the Chemical Brothers in the dance tent, for the same reason. So, MOG Nation, what ONE band would you like to see at MOGachella, and whiat ONE band at the Dance Tent? It's high times the organizers get this thing moving, and who best to sort out the acts, than the people of MOG Nation?

  1. Anonymous says I'd love to see The Deftones or 311 or Priestess. Any of those would do for me :)

  2. Eclectic Chick says The Smiths; The Album Leaf; Michael Franti; The Flaming Lips; and maybe, the Breeders. It'd be a little slice of my heaven....

  3. Viva La Britt says For a music lover, Coachella is almost beyond words; I'm still flogging myself for skipping it last April. I'm hoping for a Radiohead headlining slot next year- if I could hear "How to Disappear Completely" while the band performs against a backdrop of starlit sky, palm trees, and mountains...damn, my heart can't take it.

  13. that1guy says so... I think we should all plan on meeting up at coachy, that would be fun and on my way to seattle. I really don't have any bands in particular I'd like to see there because the festival atmosphere is much different, less personal there. Its just fun to be around copious amounts of people that dig the same music you do.

  14. Bawston Sean says I don't know if I'll be able to hit Cochella this year, but I would definitely be up for hosting a pre-MOGaroo party, as I live about 30 minutes from the show...and I know how to sneak into Bonaroo, which makes ALL the difference.

  15. Anna says ''pre-MOGaroo party''...just reading that got me good & drunk.

  16. Bawston Sean says If you think you're drunk now, you should hang out in Tennessee sometime. We'll show you how it's really done.

  17. Anna says Uh-oh. ;)
    Permalink posted 09/12/2006
  18. Bawston Sean says incidentally, if people come down for MOGaroo, we could also do a MOG Whiskey tour and vistit the Jack Daniel's distillery and the George Dickel distillery, since they both right by the Bonaroo sight...

  21. Bawston Sean says I'm tellin' ya, if you like booze and rock n roll, Tennessee is the only place to be...
    Permalink posted 09/12/2006
  22. Anna says I'll second that. If you eventually decide to trust me back that is.
    Permalink posted 09/12/2006
  23. etcvisitor says i would second it even if bawston sean didnt trust me. "tennessee = booze + rock n roll". i think that came in second as the state motto. if only bucket city had remained the state capitol.

  24. Anna says Don't you get dizzy stanidng upside down? And most important, don't you spill that refreshment/drink all over the place? ;)
    Permalink posted 09/12/2006
  25. Dale says You kids, partying all over my MOG. I feel like the cool adult that lets the neighborhood kids party in his basement...without the creepy pedophile vibe. Eww.

  26. Killa says i went to coachella this year and alls i can say is that it was overwhelming. seeing as how there are a ridonkulous amount of shows in LA i've seen most the bands that i'd like to see, but I'd love to see Tom Petty, Kasabian, and Metallica believe it or not. Looks like I'll be seeing Kasabian soon enough, and Tom is coming to town too so...yeah. I don't really care who's playing, let's have a drink or 9. The best way to do it is to rent a house, you end up spending less money than you would at a hotel and you have a pool etc etc. Lez do dis.

  27. Dale says That sounds nice, but I'm thinking about camping onsite. That may not work with the new DD job though, so I'm open to reconsidering.
    Permalink posted 09/12/2006
  28. Anna says I'M NOT CAMPING. April I'm coming with you.
    Permalink posted 09/12/2006
  29. that1guy says I'm down. With the house. With a Mouse. And a Fox. In a box. I do not like green eggs and ham, I do not like them sam I am. I can confirm a little later in the year. Where are you reading that metallica will be there?
    Permalink posted 09/12/2006
  30. Dale says It's the Scout thing I've got working, plus the cheapskate thing :) Besides, I don't think it would work, since I'd be spending a lot of time schlepping bunches of drunken MOGgers back to the house, just to head back onsite? I'm cheap, but I'm also lazy.
    Permalink posted 09/12/2006
  31. that1guy says Doubtful you will have to do much "schlepping". I usually don't drink at outdoor festivals, especially ones in South CA. I get all dehydrated and crap. If I do it would be maybe one two. I'm sure there will be plenty of people available to drive back to the house where all of the real drinking would partake. You could laugh at all of us while sipping your sprite.
    Permalink posted 09/12/2006
  32. Dale says No way, I'm not about laughing at people who drink. I AM, however, about making sure my friends stay safe, whatever they do. I'll even bring the gas-guzzling Explorer, so I've got lots of room for party-goers. Anything I can do to keep things memorable, in a good way.

  33. Joxley says Damn I wish I could get to MOGachella, but just to let you know Dale I'll happily host the MOGing Weekend: Reading and Leeds party.
    Permalink posted 09/12/2006
  34. Dale says SWEET!!! BTW John, as Soutmaster of my troop, I hereby make you an honorary Scout, since you'd mentioned something about wanting to camp more. :)

  35. SatisfiedMind614 says Coachella rules...best two days of the year...my three 'dream' headliners' would be David Bowie, Smashing Pumpkins, and for the dance tent crtystal method...again

  36. GeekXian says New Order was my last 'must see' band, too and I finally got to see them (in a CLUB!!) last year in Chicago -- soooo much better than I was even expecting (see my avatar for a pic from the show. :) ). I've got $1.50 in change in my pocket -- let's get a New Order MOGachella collection going. :) -X

  37. Dale says Make it so! The clip I posted, I'm not sure which festival that was (Glastonbury? Reading? Joxley, little help?), but that's what I picture it would be like; 100,000 people dancing along, hands in the air. Oh yeah!
    Permalink posted 09/12/2006
  38. Joxley says I can't really help you, except to say it doesn't look like Glasto, I'm guessing it's proabably the O2 festival, but I'm not sure. Thanx for the honorary Scout membership!

  39. Dale says No prob, thanks anyway. You're card's on its way.

  40. Robbie Howell says absolutely rent a house. i've done so with my pitiful group of music nuts for the past two years. it makes everything so much cheaper. plus, you gotta stay sunday. you'll kick yourself if you don't. (i've got contact info for the house if you wanna. just email me.) what band would i wanna see? the smiths, obviously, but they turned down five mil to appear last year. how about psychedelic furs? that wouldn't be bad. echo & the bunnymen wouldn't be bad either. wait. i've got it! DEVO. that's the one i wanna see. oh, yeah.
