THE MUSIC BLOGGING HIVE MIND

With heavy hands, I reached out for you

I actually didn't listen to much music while on vacation last week. I thought it would be kinda rude to slink away and slap on the headphones, and also not so nice to foist my music on my less-than-appreciative family, so the eighteen hours spent in the car were spent listening to the audio version of Harry Potter's latest exploits. Not a bad way to pass the time. Besides, I'm not completely sure of the effects of music-drunkenness on driving, and I had to stay sharp. ;)Anyway, today was a welcome opportunity to run some errands and play music of my own choosing for once. Not feeling like spending much time going through everything on the Gigabeat, I picked Asobi Seksu's latest album Citrus, and settled into sweetest bliss. That moment was only slightly dented by the police escort that could only mean a funeral procession."Thursday" came on, and seemed to melt right into the moment, even without the video popping into my mind. Hmm.A sobering, yet still good, start to what will no doubt be a very long week back to work, and school for the kids.

  1. indiepixie says haha harry potter vs. Asohi... Hard decision. Like the footage of the video....very artistic. Was it a special lens or after effects to get the color? I wonder....

  2. lucysilverlining says i love thursday, and had never seen the video - thanks for posting it, dale. it is a bit sobering, but also filled with such a gorgeous song; beautiful melancholy, so to speak.

  4. fairportfan says Hmmm. I see various kinds of post-processing in there; there's solarisation in the opening sequence, superimposition of course in some shots. The effects could be done with a graduated filter in the original shoot but are more likely also done electronically in post-proc to be sure of getting what you want and of not screwing up the original footage...

  5. Dale says There you go, Faith-Ann, looks like Mike ^ has you covered. Ah, beautiful melancholy, aptly put Lucy. It did soundtrack the procession well. As do I, Pat, as do I. (And thanks for dropping by, Mr. MOGger of the Week.)

  9. Mike the Knife says Echoes, but in a good way, D. Now, in lieu of something new from The Cure, I'm gonna get some Asobi Seksu.
