Bringing the white-boy funk
-
Artist:
I do what I'm told, because I'm obedient like that.
Last night, I was marveling at the glory that is The Teardrop Explodes' debut album Kilimanjaro and thinking that there's not nearly enough of them on the MOG, Then the command came to kick up Funky Friday, so here's the opening track, with the funkiest bass and swinging-est horns Liverpool could cook up in 1980.
Can't you just picture Julian Cope singing and swinging along with the gloriously dorky side-stepping Carlton dance that was so popular in the 80's? Heehee.
And I will be revisiting this album later, of that you can bet.
Dig!

I dig thoroughly, because I'm obedient like that, too ;)
You are really good at finding the funk in post-punk. I'm terrible at that. I only hear it after you've served it to me. Good thing I have you to balance my inabilities! hehehe
Happy Friday, brother!
Heh, I'm the only one brazen enough to post Bauhaus for Funky Friday, you mean. ;)
Happy Friday to you as well. :)
No one would have done it better, you adorable MOG anarchist you!
Definitely a catchy tune Dale. Way to kick start the funk.
When can we expect Liquid Liquid and A Certain Ratio?
I think we would have every reason to expect ACR sometime soon.
Ooh. Explosive - in a white-boy way. And, after my Shriekback funk post last week, I'm now thinking Gang-style (Gang of Four, that is).
I've posted "Damaged Goods" on FF in the past, so there's precedent. ;)
Ya beat me to tha punch, squire! But, no matter. The funk will not expire!
I Found That Essence Rare?
To [sorry Dale] With Poverty? :D
Haha I'm dancing! It's 'What We All Want'.
yes!
awaiting some Gang of Four...

Outstanding album Dale. There's not one duff track on it.
