Random musings while I wonder how Lucy's doing since she left MOG and Multiply:I don't think I mentioned it before today, but I'm an uncle again! Melissa's baby sister gave birth to a small but healthy boy on the 21st. Morgan got to head to Provo, UT with his grandma (Melissa's mom), but they didn't make it on time. Melissa left last week to go help too, but she's coming back with Morgan tomorrow (um, Thursday, left coasters). Oh yeah, his name is Brody. W00t!Congrats to Pekka for being MOGger of the Week, it's well deserved! One of us! One of us! One of us!Recently, I've been listening to a TON of Lush, though you wouldn't know because it's all been from the laptop or the Gigabeat. Last night, I walked on the treadmill while listening to Split. I had forgotten how much I love that album. It fires up wonderful memories of being young, living in Tucson, newly married with a baby boy of our own, going to college part-time, and working at call centers for hours on end. Even with all that going on, most of my memories of that time are very happy. Specifically, I recall driving to the campus for an organic chemistry exam, walking out knowing I'd aced the test, and running out to the car to go tell Melissa, blaring this song in particular the whole way. This is my favorite "things are bad, but they'll get better" song. Here's the lyrics, courtesy of LyricWiki:You feel like I doLike the whole world's forgotten youAnd your life is so dull and predictableYour room seems like a cellAnd you don't sleep very wellAnd your friends only talk to point and to mockAnd to ridiculeOne day things won't seem the same way, I knowMorning in the mirrorThings will suddenly seem much clearer I promise, it's alrightHis words don't flatter meAnd they're printed for all to seeI don't care, he's not thereIt's all historyThe future's yours to holdAnd you're really not very oldAnd your life is so white, so clean and so brightAnd holds mysteryMorning in the mirrorThings will suddenly seem much clearer I promise it's alrightOne day things won't seem the same way, I know
