WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT

A good dream-in's in order

That's it, I'm raising the white flag.No more war for me!I'm feeling desensitized to all the musical brutality, and feel a great need to counteract. You know what they say, that one man can make a difference? Well, let's see if that's true.I hereby invite one and all to come in from the hostilities for a few, rest your weary souls, and post a favorite video that raises your spirits to a higher place. I get there by shoegaze, dream-pop, and their various cousins, but do this thing your own way.I'll start. For everyone out there, you really are all sweetness and light.

  6. dermahrk says ALL the music I post takes me to a higher place. I too am sick of the "wars", as I got tired of the "theme days". MOG fads come and go. NO MORE WAR! War is over if you want it.

  9. Anna says Most of my chosen music gets me to a higher place, but this band always makes me smile and dance around: I do feel like dancing, I do!

  10. 1234chainsaw says I'd post "Son Of A Gun" by The Vaselines, or "Temporal" by Secret Shine", but there's no good video. But hey, Punk "Wars" were very uncompetitive and constructive! So I'll split that difference. This is feel-good punky. It's short and sweet. It's "Out To Get Me" by The Like Young:

  11. Dale says Thank you, Desiree. Sometimes inspiration strikes at 1AM, what can I say? Ah, nicely played, I am. A great song from my favorite Sonic Youth album. "It must have been a dream, from a thousand years ago." How _a propos_. Yes, I've known you long enough to know that soft spot for New Pornographers, Ty. Good one. Nonono Mike, peace IN, maaaaaaaaan! I kinda had a feeling my peace-loving Danish friend would be down. Cheers Henry! Would that war actually was over, Mark. Sigh. Oh kat, Thelma Houston, very nice! Thanks. Nice twofer, Lizzie. I don't remember if you've seen Mute Math, but do! they're a great show, even though they're not really my cuppa musically. Now, The Cure, on the other hand ... Oh Anna, I LOVE the new avatar! As soon as that video loads (it's taking forever) I'll see if it makes me feel like dancing too. True, Punk Wars wasn't too bad; not as much baiting or name-calling. I dunno, I just don't have the stomach for it.

  12. The Serenity Vortex says I've kept out of the wars :) Peace is where I'm at. Don't get me wrong though. I keep my sword at my side. This song calms me, but also fills me with a determined kind of energy.....

  16. HelenMarie says I posted too soon, I think I prefer the live performance rather than the above tripped out version. Unless any of you are on the magic mushrooms, then go for the above surely. hehe. RIPPLE

  17. Dale says Nice song Floodsy, good energy flowing through that track. Lizzie, don't hassle the man with the sword at his side, that's not good for yr health. Me too Kevin, love Lightning Seeds. Grateful Dead, not my cuppa again, but do whatcha gotta do. :D

  21. Girlcrawl says Ditto your "I’m feeling desensitized to all the musical brutality" statement, and thanks for the respite! Am finding it difficult to narrow the choice as I often turn to classical music when feeling the need to be 'uplifted', but there are many other genre avenues and it depends on my mood...Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 seem to always make me smile esp. this lil' non-sensical Jorge Ben Jor 'samba' song:

  22. Dale says Thank you, debi and Girlcrawl, for your contributions. Now, before I put this post to bed, a couple more things. First, a live rendition of "Souvlaki Space Station" by Slowdive; the recorded version of this song kills me, in the best possible way. And, because I would get called out somewhere if I didn't include them, here's "Swallow" by My Bloody Valentine. Aaaaaaaaaaaahhh ... bliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiss.
