Happy Inauguration Day to ALL!
What a beautiful Day! Obama and family is in the right place, 'Retha singing, and my favorite hymn-the Shaker song "Simple Gifts" I could not have planned a better day! Joy! Exaltation!
Lyrics to the music we heard:
'Tis the gift to be simple,
'Tis the gift to be free,
'Tis the gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
It will be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gained,
to bow and to bend, we will not be ashamed
To turn, turn, will be our delight,
'Til by turning, turning, we come round right.
Simple Gifts was written by Shaker Elder Joseph Brackett, Jr. in 1848.
Tis a gift, oh happy day.

Your simple elegant joy, like the joy I see in so many of my friends n colleagues is infectious & a joy in itself. I hope.....I read read your words & I hope.......I heard one of the best innaugural addresses I've ever heard. The man can speak.
There will come A time when I will disagree with a policy or position. ( ie: embryonic stem cell research) I will not stoop to insult the man. I do have respect for him & the Office he holds.
I hope our new President does not get the level of respect afforded our last President. People justify their viscious attacks on G.W.B. in myriad ridiculous ways. Its just not right. To say that the man's presidencey was in many ways a disaster for the American people is way fair. To name call & villify? Not worthy.
So why am I layin' all this one you? I don't know & i know its unfair as I don't know you. I'm sorry....its been a long beautiful day...I saw grown men & women moved to tears, men & women who were obviously very proud & elated, men & women I love/like/admire/respect. Though I didn't support his candidacy....and some of his policy statements worry me.......I am still walking on clouds today as I tend to be very patriotic regardless of who sits in the oval office & today at least everyone is a little more patriotic & proud of this great country of ours & that makes me very happy.
Finally, President Obama may have what it takes to unify us, he certainly has the oratory skills to talk a nun out of her knickers, I hope he continues to buck the more extreme elements of his own party. I fear he will have more vexing problems dealing with Pelosi et al than from the Republican caucus.
Ok....I'm done. Again I'm sorry. I'm stoned & ramblin' & you don't deserve this. I think you have the power to delete this if you feel it should be 'cause I know when I'm stoned I think I'm being logical & avuncular but often in morning when I read it I just seem.......stoned.
Enjoy your joy, no apologies needed, especially not today!
thank you
So much positive energy is coming from your post, Rose! Happy Inauguration day :)
