WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Bobby Hutcherson - "Bouquet"

Posted about 1 year ago
This is slow and quiet playing, on flower time. Imagine the time for a bouquet to fully open. Beautiful vibe and piano sounds with spare quiet cymbal accents very occasionally. The bass very gently counts one, two, three, with the three always announcing the second of a pair of chords.Hutcherson's the vibist, Herbie Hancock, the pianist, Joe Chambers, the percussionist, and Bob Cranshaw is on contrabass. Nothing else like this in jazz. It's probably that label that prevented you from finding out about it. Categories be damned!
