    A World Of Piano!

Phineas is sliding all over Sonny Rollin's tune "Oleo". Worth two minutes of your time it to see a piano wizard at work.

  1. Bartleby says Wow, he exudes such elegance with his fingers. Who are the two other musician playing with Phineas?

  2. DLuebbert says That's Al McKibbon playing bass. He showed up on all kinds of recordings in the 60's and early 70's. Piano players seemed to like him. He was the bassist for the three volumes of Thelonious Monk's Black Lion recordings, Monk's last albums. Click here to see his own biography page. The Thelonious Monk link on that page is worth following. Kenny Dennis is the drummer. He's not well known, but I found a page (click here) for a Sonny Stitt album, "Personal Appearance" on the Verve Records site, where he's the drummer. The page plays sizeable samples from the album. I'd never heard that one before, but it sounds great
