Do you know Lizz Wright? - Old Man - Live

Posted about 4 years ago
Her voice and stage presence are astounding. She has a talent of making everything she sings sound like it's hers. In this case, it's Neil Young's "Old Man".For another example, find David Sanborn's album "Closer" via Mog and listen to her performance of James Taylor's "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight".There are other songs from this performance, and from other nights, out on YouTube if you need more.

  3. Bartleby says Once, I must confess my ignorance. You'd think I live on the same planet as you, wouldn't you? Thanks for this introductory offer. The voice is strong and incredibly mastered for an artist of 27 years of age. And the band is not unworthy either.

  4. DLuebbert says Bartleby, I just found out about her last summer. I was riding around in an airport van in Washington, D.C. and the driver was playing an album which I recognized to be David Sanborn's by his sound. I rememberd the song was "Don't Let Me Lonely". I looked it up on Amazon when I got home and found it was Lizz Wright who was singing. You'd think that someone with that kind of talent and soui would be easy to promote, and everyone would have heard about her, but I guess it must not be true.

  5. Bartleby says When your air-time is filled with reality TV shows and/or Poop Stars winners, there's not much left for the promotion of true talents. Fortunately, the I-net does provide an alternative auditorium for artists such as Lizz Wright. Provided you're an eager aural pleasure seeker, of course. Your "discovering" her music in an airport van does give hope for the diffusion of good music.
