"On their CD, With Signs Following, Creech Holler travels deep into Appalachians, deep into the American psyche, deep into the past and dig up traditional songs you've never heard of but you know are part of your heritage and channel them through a hard rock filter to transform them into something deep, gothic, and inspired. The only question is, inspired by what? What have these guys touched? Have these guys indeed been handling serpents and drinking poison? How else could they take such a perfectly innocent bluegrass song like Dock Boggs' “Country Blues” and create something that comes out, well, kinda creepy? Other highlights on the CD include “Pretty Polly,” “Lester Ballard,” “The Gospel of Judas,” and “Black Mountain.”
