MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

...and never at the same time for some that I know...I was just taking a little ciggy break when that little truism popped up in my dome...

...for differing reasons, I like 'em both...though I've never played them both in the same mix...

Put me most firmly in the Siouxsie camp; her entire output, The Rapture excepted, gets me going. Bjork, on the other hand ... I love Debut, like Post, and I'm not sold on the rest of her albums.

Siouxsie is untouchable.

Bjork a truly special musician, the likes of which come along very rarely. Whatever she does, there is always a sense of the unknown, a moment of uncertainty, along with a large dose of discovery. Very few artists offer me this. She is to be cherished.

By the way CP, take Isreal by Siouxsie as the start...bound to find a Bjork track for that one...

This is funny - I love Siouxsie... I remember I loved to sing-along to her stuff back in the day.... and I do respect Björk and her work, but her voice... just makes me uncomfortable... so your "truism" is actually true with me. I think I am Jane Doe.

The other night on VH1 Classic they had a programme called "Rock goes to College" or something like that and it was an hour long Siouxsie concert from the early type days. No "Cities in Dust" or "Happy House". The only song I recognised was "Christine".

I can't wait to show it to my kids. Two girls, 6 & 8. They'll probably love it. :)

Loves 'em both (except for Bjork's "star" turn in von Trier's "Dancer in the Dark" and her unintentionally hilarious but overlong "Drawing Restraint" film w/ boyfriend Matthew Barney - bleah).

Like 'em both, too. They've stumbled at times, but what musical role models to have as a young girl...

I think they're very important musical presences. Love and hate, really, but that's one of the attractions...

i love 'em both but i think Siouxsie is more influential on more aspects of music and its peripheral lifestyles. Israel kicks ass; Dear Prudence and Helter Skelter - those are damn good Beatles covers that surely innovated from the original.

both these ladies are heroes of mine, but DAMN do i hate the new Bjork album. just a refried version of her former self. guess i got spoiled with the great strides she made with each new effort. i couldn't wait to see what direction she took after Medulla. apparently that direction was backwards. meh. that "Declare Independence" song is so bad it makes me angry!! >:(
