...fuckin' Stereolab, son...they'll try anything once and they're not beholden to a solely electronic patina when they color in their songbook, either...I love a band that'll challenge it's listeners; separate the searchers of sound from the sucker-ducks with their music...it seems as if they intend to take their audience even further afield when they select material for their Switched On series which are compilations of their limited release recordings that were initially issued by the group's labels in smallish quantities for EPs, non-album singles, et cetera...For instance, check this rare, albeit grainy, video for "One Note Samba/ Surfboard", which features the funky jazz flutist Herbie Mann, a classic written by "the Brazilian Gershwin", Antonio Carlos Jobim, which can be found on Aluminum Tunes: Switched On, Vol. 3....

me too! i feel that i am barraged with so much music, that i only really bond with the albums and bands that challenge my opinions and concepts of the audible range.

too bad the video is no longer available on youtube :(
