Track: Bud the Spud

...I first heard of Stompin' Tom Connors years ago on a talk radio show I still listen to called As it Happens that broadcasts out of Canada but can also be found on public radio stations here in the states...the tune, "Bud the Spud" reminds me of that truckin' tune "Convoy" from back in the day, when "Keep on Truckin' " was a popular colloquialism...mind you, I don't think there's a fleet's worth of truckers on this thing but there are a grip of Moggers that I enjoy reading...so keep on doing that...this ain't necessarily Christmas-y ( can ya blame me after yesterday's horror show ?)...whatever's clever, yo...dude is wearing a red shirt and all...comin' atcha-- straight from Prince Edward Island, son...

The Hockey Song would be Mr. Warren Zevon, and I agree, that is a good song.

Stompin' Tom Connors is C-eh-N-eh-D-eh Icon like the USA Johnny Cash.I wrote a tribute lyric to Stompy tom called The duck song here are the lyrics and comment from my fellow rampers at Songramp from the Writers Room

The Duck Song

Chorus

Duck

Duck right here duck over there Duck right down get out of sight

Can't you feel the tension in the air

Those aren't ducks they're flying chairs

You say there's ducks everywhere

The ducks fly south this time of year

So don't fear dry those tears

I think you had too... much beer

V-1

Ain't no Mighty ducks on the tv screen

Just Stompy Tom singin The Hockey Song

That ain't Donald Duck sittin next to you

It's Don Cherry listening to Stompy Tom

Chorus

V-2

That ain't Daffy duck behind that long bar

Just Donald Trump watching The Hockey Song

There's no big white ducks comin after you

I think you need to go and sleep it all off

V-3 Now you say you only had one Baby Duck

that's not Baby Huey sittin on your lap

And that's not the reason you can't get up

I think you really had way too much beer

V-4 If you don't smartin up one things for sure

One ugly duckling you'll wake up next to

Cause the lights go dimmer at closing time

Cause the lights go dimmer at closing time

So let me get this straight...someone in your imagination or past sees duck when they get drunk??? What the heck are they drinking? Or maybe those ducks are chicks? He's waking up next to an ugly duck? I'm trying here...cause it's a cute set of lyrics but I'm giggling at the image of being covered in feathers and having big big orange feet.(LOL)

Re: Ducks Fly South-Rough by FastEddie on 06/16 19:47 Funny, I'm not at all surprised that Ritt gets this...on the other hand, he is a NY-er. There's a place there called Spark's Staekhouse. Big Paul Castelano was shot just outside. Now, when ever anyone orders "Duck" the waiters all dive under the table

Duck by songman32 on 07/02 16:35 Hey Irral You might check and see if you can sorten the chorus to the same number of lines the verses have and you also use the beer line alot see if maybe it's taking away from the Title which should be your hook, This is just some ideas Irral. Jimmy Lee
Re: Duck by Aprilshowers60 on 07/02 16:39 I like where your going with this Yrral..Catchy, funny & witty. Jimmy has a point about the chorus. Can't wait to see what you do with this one. Its comming along good guy! :)

Re: Duck by mlprat on 07/02 19:04 Keep going Larry you're getting good at this. Mike

Re: Duck by lps45s8tracks on 07/02 23:52

Thanks for the comment everyone.Oh come on Jimmy I just got a lesson in metre now you want me to shorten my chorus lol. Please leave this one for me I really believe in this one.I'll work on it till it kills me.Don't get me wrong I do appreciate your comments but I'm saving this one.I'll get it or it'll kill me for sure.I want to do this so bad.You know right to the finish.(:Yrral Mallik:)

Re: Duck by dreamcastle33 on 07/04 01:23 I like it, there's enough ducks to cover the chorus, of which it's personal preference as many songs have longer choruses than verses...I see this a pop/rock not country. meter.....what's that, around 39 inches...right
