...My 20GB iPod had a gripper and dropped dead on me...it's happened before and I just let it be for a couple of days BUT NOT THIS TIME...it's been a week and I don't think it gonna come back any time soon...no haps...I tried everything...I even yelled at it but the 'pod's once welcoming ivory faceplate taunts...it mocks me...Crash: "C'mon dude, click on...I need some 'trane...some Run DMC...some Bad Religion...some "Protection"...some "Beauty is a Rare Thing"...a "Handful of Fives"...to burn this stack of CDs sitting on my desk right here, right now...I need, I need, I needs. That shit be callin' me...it be callin' me"...iPod: "I'm sorry, Crash...I can't do that...no haps, my son." Long story short: I took my ass on down to the applestore while I was in Pasadena yesterday and copped a brand new 30 gig joint...my defiant stance against planned obsolescence roundly thwarted I'm a tune-ho and I knows it, yo...the three bills I was forced to drop (had to get a little more space/ protective covering too) I'm chastened...I'm loading all my shite on it as I type this...

...tangentially, somebody just dropped me a couple of CDs: Stereolab's Emperor Tomato Ketchup and Margerine Eclipse ...I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that M. Eclipse is their best LP yet (topping even Dots & Loops and Mars Audiac Quintet let titles like "Vonal Declosion" or "Feel and Triple" or "Bop Scotch" fool you...this shite is supple, yo! The whole damn plate and that's word...I'm waaay too addicted to music to go so long without a listen when I'm away from my 'puter... (looking at new black iPod: "let's never fight again"...Dude, I think when I come back, you know the next time, I'm gonna get one hooked up like this...

Stereolab is one of those groups I've always thought I oughta like from what I've read, but I seem to buy the wrong CDs Apart from from Margerene Eclipse, what else should I be listening to?

Dots & Loops, Mars Audio Quintet are good follow ups to Margerine Eclipse (see link backs in post above to an earlier post with videos, etc)...this group's got a prolific body of stuff and while some of the experimental shite gets byzantine...when they're on...THEY'RE ON....hook up with any of these three LPs first...
