...Living Colour dropped this LP back in aught-three when they were "re-uniting" for the first or second time (I forget) and I thought this LP was tragically overlooked because Black Rock was on the back-burner and Bling was king...I liked it though, there were a couple of fine new slices (which I saw 'em perform at the House of Blues on Sunset while covering the reunion for a magazine)...while the album's no Vivid or even Time's up, it was nice to know that these cats still had the chops in 'em and they hadn't dropped their political stance one iota...The highlights include the opening track "Song Without Sin" a screed that seems to be pointed at the same guys that ILC were railing against back in the day, "Operation Mind Control" (check the tinny lyrics in the background) and flying which has a haunting premise and there's a nice little cover of AC/DC's "Back in Black" too...When I checked them at the HoB, I remembered how far they'd come since playing those ratty-ass dives back in the day (I had a chance to check 'em a place that I played in Blacksburg, VA before they blew up but passed for some reason, probably on the road myself)...as stated, this isn't the greatest LP in the bands body of work but it ain't that bad either...so cop it if you see it out there in a used CD bin, I think its OOP but still it's a nice little rock LP.
