HHT CrashUp: Roots Manuva's Kickin' the Cack...

Posted over 2 years ago
...here's something different for your Hip Hop Thursday consumption...Roots Manuva whom I'd slacked off on, admittedly...earlier this year, Micki hooked me up with a couple of his albums when she was in L.A. and we swapped some sounds via USB cables in a MacBook to MacBook stylee...I've since found that I am ready to absorb 'im and have been bumpin' this LP more and more...here's a jam I hipped Anna to in a comment a while back from 2001's Run Come Save Me-- one of the albums that Mick shot me...

  1. mktackabery says Great flow, diggin' it . . . the music's a bit too repititive on this track for my taste, but his flow makes up for it and I like the "zoobahdoo" scat on it.

  5. mickimicki says cool...now your post made me play all my Roots Manuva... the man has a flow and his beats are SO funky... without looking for mass appeal... etc etc... also he has been around for a while now... I'll add the last tune from the album, Dreamy Days. I love the way it's slightly melancholy, totally cool, and funky as shit...

  6. CrashPryor says @kaleef: yeah, this one kinda surprised me...there's a great dub LP that came after this one that's worth checking too... @Micki: Nice, I liked this one also...he has been around for a minute but has been one of those artists that have just slipped past me (now you can see why I'm always circling back to the older stuff)....good looking with the "Dreamy Days", I apreesh; danke...
