...back when I lived in Little 5 Points, Atlanta we used to shoot over to the Star Bar after work to see "*DJ Romeo Cologne*":http://atlanta.creativeloafing.com/gyrobase/Content?oid=oid%3A14130 lay down the disco cuts every Tuesday night...dude used to get decked out in full gear: a big ass pompadour wig, funky-fly polyester pant suits and he topped his whole so-bad-that-its-good couture ensemble off with a seedy, pencilled-on Zorro crustache on his upper lip...it was glorious to behold... when I was there last year, that shit was still going strong, sans Romeo...the crowd was people I didn't know and all the bartenders that were down with me were nowhere to be seen...but still I saw traces of when me, neighborhood rats and home biscuits like my man George Chang (the late "*founder of club MJQ*":http://chronicridicule.blogspot.com/2005/05/mjq-lounge-george-lives.html ) would show up after work and get hammered on that small-ass dance floor...whenever I hear this Gap Band tune I remember all those guys and what made L5P such a cool spot to live, work and hang around in at one moment in time...hard to believe that this powerhouse of sound "*came from Oklahoma, of all places*":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gap_Band but then I look at this picture I found and I'm a believer...whatever's clever...Romeo used to start every set by spinning this jam...FONK!!!

I love this song. This post made my day. I'm bored at work and I'm going to listen to this over and over again for at least a half hour. Thanks, man!

Back in the day, I kinda wrote them off as funk-lite. But with tunes like Outstanding it ended up being Charlie that won me over to them. Then he did a little singing w/P-Funk, and now he's The Man in my eyes.

Crash. I have been mogging for just over a week now. I can see that you are going to constantly throw something out that is going to make me, laugh, groove, smile, shake, swoon, scratch my head. Whatever you do, keep it coming.

Righty-o, ivy. It's always been one of my go-to songs on the wheels of steel (or their digital equivalent). You dropped a bomb on us, Crasher.
