The Mystic World of Augustus Pablo -- The Rockers Story

...I was just updating the art in my machine and stumbled upon a dub album that all lovers of the genre should have-- Augustus Pablo Presents: Rockers Story...it also folds into the Hip Hop Thursday I've already pulled MOG's coat "*on his East of the River Nile*":http://mog.com/CrashPryor/blog_post/18694 and here's another set from the dub maestro...its choc-a-bloc with some of Jamaica's finest toasters; conscious singers of the era and Augustus Pablo dub tracks...I rolls in with "555 Crown Street" and then picks up with Dillinger's "Take It Easy" (a phat DJ track with hella bottom on it)...there's a cover of "World Without Love" (the Immortals) which gives a little Caribbean spice to the Beatles classic and it closes with Hugh Mundell's "Africa Must Be Free" which comes from his landmark collaboration with Pablo on the classic reggae album of the same name. This LP was released at the end of the 80s when Roots Reggae was on the wane but Augustus' album shows that things were still getting souped up down on the Yard...one of those great, heavy riddim, coast-to-coast listens, this album is a mixed bag of styles; perfect for chillaxin in the summer sun or just cutting in the crib so grab it if you see it, it's all butter-- check the toast on this Dillinger jam...
