WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

...This Rant is Brought to You By the Letter "Y"

Posted over 2 years ago
...I think the song below encapsulates how I felt the other day...look into the face on that picture...can't you tell that I want to kick a little ass? Right now my MacBook has turned on me, well kinda sorta. The other day my "y" key on my Mac burnt out. mind you, I'd been warned by my girlfriend to NEVER use a lot of water when washing it and I never have, so when I hit her up with my grousing, of course it's the first thing she asked me, along with "did you use soap"...I used very little to kill any bacterium that might be on the board as I do smoke and use my laptop all over the place so there's bound to be what Louis Pasteur called "little meanies" lurking on there...a day later, no "y" could be typed, so it was off to the Apple Store to see one of the resident "geniuses" that are on hand but the chain of events that took place while sitting at the "genius bar" makes me question the process that went into giving it such a handle, but I'm getting a little ahead of myself......"*read the rest here*":http://chronicridicule.blogspot.com/2007/05/this-rant-is-brought-to-you-by-appleand.html

  5. Dale says I'm sorry, but the Apple Store labeling their tech support 'genius' is nigh-well ludicrous.

  8. chucky says That song, which I unfortunately hit play on before I began reading, had me wanting to punch someone in the face by the end of your post. Which might have been the point, but... In February, when I went out to CA, was the first time I saw a Mac up close and personal because my girlfriend out there had one. I thought it was pretty and completely user un-friendly when I decided to use it while she was at work. I'll never own an apple, vista notwithstanding.

  10. Mike the Knife says Shite, C.P. I feel your angst, man. My life and career are so tied into mon ordinateur. If it (pardon the expression) crashes, it almost takes me with it. Meanwhile, what you need is a delicious bowl of Quisp - or maybe Quake. (Sorry. Wrong post.)

  11. CrashPryor says @lady: ouch...I gotcha (next Thursday I'm gonna have that 20 for the swami-- karma collects, yo)... @Dale: ho ho ho, shecky...good for you...kick a brother when he's down why don'tcha...fuggin' wise-arse... @Charles: exactly how I felt while talking to that mook in the Apple Store...when you're used to PC/ Windows, it does take a while to get used to it but once you do, you'll see a lot of ways to do things that PC's don't allow...I was just bitchin' and moanin' (that's how I get over shite like this)... @wasonii: good to know, thanks, mate. @Mikey: word. it's crazy when one begins to realize how plugged in they really are...there was a time when all's we needed was a simple type writer (don't think I didn't lament that fact while I was in the Apple Store-- they got us by the Jacobs)...

  12. contrabandwidth says I feel our pain. I learned long ago technology does nothing to actually make our lives easier, it just gives us that illusion. Especially when it comes to computers, the time you save in one area is invariably sucked up by things like your experience. Although, I would definitely recommend some of the good wet wipes out there over any actual liquid. You could always attach a USB keyboard (or go wireless with a Bluetooth one) to avoid such "wear and tear" in the future. I do this, plus my MacBook Pro gets hot as an oven, it's ridiculous. And always buy the Apple Protection plan with anything that isn't a tower (in the past they replaced my screen for free, and they treat you a lot nicer -go figure). Believe me though, I've been there, I feel your pain.
