WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Say What You Will But I'm Feelin' a Little CREAMY...

Posted over 2 years ago
..After last Friday evening-till-right-at-this-second, I've been embroiled in a forced march through the world of editing, I JUST FINISHED!! Woooo! (truth be told, most of the writers I know would rather write the shit and hand it off as opposed to tightening shit up within the boundaries and constraints and guidelines, etc-- BADGES? We don't need no stinkin' badges!) I won't break my arm patting myself on the back just yet but it's safe to say that the worst part is quickly receding in the rear view mirror...(now I just gotta wait for the tweaks from the big wheels but I'm pretty much done with it)...I'm feeling like this right about now...so what if it's been used in a commercial, I'll never forget the first time I heard Fresh Cream on vinyl for the first time-- straight up butter and total bliss (some things get lost in the sauce with CDs)...it made me feel kinda like what I'm feeling right now...beers all around...holla!

  1. CrashPryor says ...okay, I got a beer in my hand right now, and not to get all "livin' in the past" on yas, this is what I felt like when I realized what I was up against about 1AM last Saturday...it was dropped two years later after the cut above, in '68, when the proverbial dew had dried up on the lily and Clapton's eyeballs were pointing towards the exit...

  9. kat3260 says I used to drive around and blast "I Feel Free" when I got my first car. Good memories. Editing is some of the most tedious, ball-buster type work that exists! And if you're like I am, you always feel that more improvements can be made. It's tough to flick that switch and just let it be done.

It's been driving me up the wall - we have a kid who's freelancing for us, hoping to line up a job, and the slop that he passes along...simply bewildering cos it defies all common sense. Still, I like the trip of telling someone what to do. Should reward myself with a good tune more often.

  13. nicki says Speakin' for my situation: the editor for our alumni magazine goes with The New York Times...when it suits him. There's only so much injured pride he can take. And it's not much. We decided that our news officers should refer to the AP guide, but, of course, not a single copy has been ordered. I don't officially edit any of their work but it makes posting their releases (I'm a webmaster) kinda painful. Crash?

  14. CrashPryor says @Dave and Nick: I'm not William Strunk or anything... but most of the peeps I've written for use NYT (yeah, I got a rumpled copy of The Elements of Style on a shelf somewhere too...
