Hip Hop Night: LL Cool J's "To the Break of Dawn"

Posted over 2 years ago
Remember LL Cool J back in the terry-cloth Kangol days when he had a beef with Kool Moe Dee and Ice T? (on the record tip, anyway)...this joint is just some pics and points out who Uncle L is dissin' at the time but the sound is tight...

  1. Rawkkiddoh says Then you got the nerve to have those star trek shades on.....that is classic. I was a huge fan of LL up to the point this album came out. After, I do not think I bought another album by him. I think the song "Watch Out" by Atmosphere sums it up best for me. Look, I understand your hate When I was younger, I wanted to be LL Cool J Then he started making records for the girls and shit So I ripped up the Kangol and threw it away I stole moves from KRS-One A little Big Daddy Kane and some DJ Run And then we took our life and made it a song And look, nowadays Rhymesayers is on

  2. CrashPryor says ...agreed, it pretty much ended with this LP for me too but man, what an LP...that "Unplugged" joint that came immediately after was ok but, UDS had been doing that shite in Europe for years by then...as far as the "making LP for chicks" tip goes, the L had been making cuts for the ladies since the Radio LP; "I Can Give You More" ("Dear Yvette"-- haha), "I Need Love" and "Around the Way Girl" immediately come to mind...that said, he should have left the straight out booty call joints to the Force MDs...where in the hell are they now?...exactly...

  4. Rawkkiddoh says It wasnt that that drove me away from LL crash, shit I still know all the words to I need love, and sing them when I am in the shower. It was more of my discovery of KRS-One, Big Daddy and such that pulled me away from him.

  5. CrashPryor says @ Charles: I hear you, LL ain't stupid, he knows what side his bread gets buttered on...back when everyone else was "the King of this and that" he was hip hop's "backdoor man"...schmoove... @Coop:...come on, man...you know you're still rapping "Dear Yvette" too...those lyrics are hella funny...

  7. CrashPryor says "I don't really wanna dis nobody. You might think I had a little too much Bacardi-- But that's not the problem. The problem's, Yvette: how bad can a girl's reputation get? See, she's the kinda girl all the homeboys met. If you're desperate, ask Yvette-- 'cause she'll say 'bet!' " ...so wrong that it's right...
