...Check out those sideburns..."Use Me" was released on Bill Withers' third LP, "*Still Bill*":http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=&sql=10:isug6j3h71l0 , back in 1972 and the whole album is a great coast-to-coast listen...his Best of is cool but if you like digging a little deeper, you might want to add this set to your collection too...

    newform says I might have the facts a little confused here but I'm pretty sure that this album was written and recorded from scratch in some silly amount of time...as in like one week or something along those lines. I can't recall if that was in the liner notes or where I read that but it really says something about the man's talent. I think he was writing and recording one song a day. He didn't write Lean On Me but I'd bet we wouldn't know that song today unless he covered it.

    Cody B says Mostly short, Mostly perfect songs. Just heard him on an NPR interview, news and notes, I think. The man is humble, loves to sing and make music, but just couldn't abide with the machinations of the record biz; so he stopped making records. Genius. I love him more now and I loved him a lot. I'd stack his first few records with just about anyone's. Chill indeed.
