...It's nice to run into people you haven't heard from in a while...even if they no longer exist on this mortal coil...Yesterday someone dropped me a line via a comment on a post I'd done back in 2005 which spoke about MJQ on my older blog...the piece spoke about a trip I'd taken back to Atlanta, GA and, more specifically, a friend of mine named George Chang (pic above is a caricature featured in Atlanta's Creative Loafing magazine) who launched the original spot in the basement of the Ponce de Leon Hotel......it turns out that DJ Taka (who I used to check at MJQ after worknights) has been spinning in NYC...Dennis, the guy who reached out to me, was another head who hung out at the spot when I lived there in the ATL, who now does podcasts for A Brooklyn Life (ABL: Radio)...he pulled my coat on where the site is which not only holds a featured mix by Taka called "Side Effects" (which should be checked because it's hella tight) but there's also mp3's of other DJs spinning in NYC and they're all for the nice price: *FREE*...check the story and check the comments for Dennis' link to ABL...it's totally worth a peek..."*here's the story on the Chronicles of Ridicule*":http://chronicridicule.blogspot.com/2005/05/mjq-lounge-george-lives.html
