  1. Lilithk says It's Karosene Hat, but wow, I love Cracker. I remember seeing them for free in Golden Gate park when Happy Birthday to me just came out. Then I got to see them for free at Bumbershoot before they started charging for Bumbershoot.

  3. ricedream says CVB's cover of "Pictures of Matchstick Men" is one of my favorites. I saw them live last year - it evoked good memories.

  4. kat3260 says hey, these guys are VA natives too, right? "Low" is such a good tune.

  6. SamTheButcher says For my money, David & co's powers were at their peak with "Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart" and "Key Lime Pie". My fave tracks off KLP, well, my favorite is "All Her Favorite Fruit", followed in no order by "June", "Borderline", "Sweethearts" and another lean-towards, "When I Win The Lottery". You're one hell of a music afficionado, Chris. But I'm sure you know that. :)

  7. jenipop says "Karosene" not "Kersosene"? I'm confused by that exchange: likewise by the Urban Dictionary attributing "Eurotrash Girl" to Chicks on Speed instead of the originators. I've seen Cracker perform live only once, in a very small club, and it was during the college-radio run of said song, a closing-time bit of self-referencing that holds the appeal of a novelty one-off (but is actually well put together). Doesn't everyone have a friend who has a Prague diary on a diskette somewhere?

  8. CrashPryor says I typo'd "Kerosene Hat" with Kerosene "Heat" earlier, Jeni and corrected it in the tag...I actually have a writer friend I used to hang out with back in Atlanta who now works in DC...who went to Prague to teach English...I'm sure he has one...I'll ask him...

  9. jenipop says Oh, got it...see what happens when you enter late and leave too soon? I am going to have to second Sam's plaudit (and look forward to more from my sort-of youth).

  10. Flaneur says Sandra Bernhard is fucking Bad Ass. I've been wanting to see this video for ages, thanks! Cracker's recent 'Greenland' is top notch, by the way, I heartily recommend it. Take a listen to "I Need Better Friends" and you'll be hooked.

  11. Mike the Knife says M-m-m. Crackers, pie, and beer. You really know how to put out a spread, Crash. And damn! These crucial trax still have the power! ('specially "Low.")

  12. Kent Lambert says Nice! The first song of the first Roommate show ever (4/23/04) was a cover of Camper's "Sweethearts", one of my favorite songs of all time. There's a recording of the cover here: http://kentlambert.org/mp3s/sweethearts_hO.mp3 (It's just me singing along with a Gameboy, and I changed a few lyrics towards the end, so purists, beware...) These tracks still have the power, indeed! Hey, is David Lowery still on MOG?

  13. Librarianguish says I love, love, love CVB and Cracker. I got to see them play live together two nights in a row just over a year ago. Fantastic! I have to agree with SamtheButcher - Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart and Key Lime Pie are the best. Tough to pick favorite songs off of those. Hmmm. Think I'll go listen to some CVB now. Cheers!

  14. extraordinarypoems says My fellow tells me this group has been in Columbia repeatedly and apparently loves this town. So maybe I'll get to see them in person.
