... Apparently Green Gartside of Scritti Politti (remember that cut "Perfect Way?" click header for bio) has new cD out (since around July in the UK) called "Whitebread Black Beer":http://www.thestore24.com/Music/Album.aspx?p_id=P+++++5381&a_id=R+++831934&PersonID=P%20%20%20%20%205381&prodid=NNS79966.2&si=rhino ...I'm listening to Terry Gross' radioshow Fresh Air right now and have just heard "Ken Tucker's review":http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6247151&surl=http%3A//www.scpr.org/programs/freshair/&f=module-FA and the samples are quite cool ...I'm sold; I think I'm gonna go and buy it...Black Beer's a very, very different kind of pop (in a good way, though)... I think I'll snag it for one of those rainy-day, "stop-me-before-I'm-snarky" listens...

joshuaseth says My sister listened to these guys when she was in 9th? Grade... (Cupid & Psyche 85 was the record) And then a few years ago I hear this dope track "From Tinseltown to the Boogie Down" with a Psycho Les version and a Pete Rock version and a Ali-Shaheed Muhammad version. I was like "Whoa" It was really fresh. The guy was singing in falsetto and the beats in the background were really moody and cool. I was really blown away by it. The Psycho Les version being my favorite cut on the 12". Seriously, imagine my suprise when I find out it's this twee dude who I remember as a Duran-Duran type... And yes I went out and copped that joint.

Sureshot says Apparently Green suffered from really bad stage fright for years, and has only just overcome this to start touring once again. This album was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize.
