If you own any of those K-Tel-styled “Best of the New Wave 80s†compilations, then you might as well keep your collection of Dr. Rhythm-era synth-pop current with a copy of Chromeo’s "She's In Control":http://www.thestore24.com/Music/Album.aspx?p_id=P+++577712&a_id=R+++677016&search=chromeo&sec=all%20music&prodid=VICE83673.2&si=rhino. Point blank, the offering is an unapologetic time-capsule from the Me-Decade. She's In Control sounds as if Rockwell joined forces with Fine Young Cannibals and "Newcleus":http://www.rhino.com/store/ProductDetail.lasso?Number=72840&si=rhino, thus yielding party tunes that are new yet old, oh so old. Make no mistake, the tunes will evoke memories of big-hair, neon flamingos, perpetual five o’clock shadows with an abundance of some of the shrillest tom-tom drumming ever witnessed this side of a Vanity 6 EP. Don’t let that dissuade you, though. Slap on your electric turquoise blazer and sandals for a look-back at the days when Simon Le Bon and Nick Rhodes epitomized what was hip -- ouch! She’s In Control is so wrong, that it’s just right.
