St. Cloud Music Scene

Posted over 5 years ago
Living in the town of St. Cloud, Minnesota one might think the music scene would be boring. If you are one of these thinkers I have to say that you are wrong. Although there might not be an excessive amount of areas to find the latest artists, there are some good places to lounge out and listen to some pretty good jams. First off, the Java Joint is a great place to find the most recent up and coming bands. Anyone is welcome, which is great for music lovers of all ages, and also every artist is different. The cover charge is nothing to fret over and they also pure a pretty mean cup of joe.For all the 21+ people who love to party there are plenty of hot spots downtown. From clubs such as "The Red Carpet":http://www.redcarpetnightclub.com. and "The Press":http://www.pressbar.com. to "The Rox":http://roxtav.com. and "D.B. Searles":http://www.dbsearles.com. , there is never a dull moment to catch a great local band or a regional band passing thru to rock your socks off. I don't want to forget to mention the theaters in the area such as "The Pioneer Place on Fifth":http://www.ppfive.com/index.aspx?s=180. and "The Paramount Theater":http://www.paramountarts.org. The Paramount is an awesome place to catch a play put on by great actors and it is also host to a few artists if they get the chance to perform there. The Pioneer Place is one of those smaller auditorium type places that has a good toss up between plays and concerts weekly. This place is just cozy enough for an acoustic show and just big enough to let you get up and dance when there is a rock band performing. So as I look towards the weekeds coming up filled with nights to boogie down, I am excited and I can't wait to check out all these places as I get the chances to over and over again. And to those who think the St. Cloud music scene smells as good as your uncle Larry's shoes, you are truly missing out.

I have nothing against them. The more music the better I say. And hey thanks for the new artist input on my blog : ). I will for sure check out Tom Waits. You say his style is unlike any I have ever heard....that intrigues me....so if you could put his style into a genre or a mix of genres.....what would you categorize it as? I like your blog. I used to hang out at the Java Joint when I was a kid. I saw alot of shows there...trouble is I don't remember any of the bands except the Lysdestics..I dunno how they spelt it.... Java Z used to be a great place for local music too..but I think they closed down now. Anyways I am not to much of a bar person so I haven't really been anywhere in town lately for live music....I even missed the Grunge Tribute that was put on by the MSB Music students....and I really wanted to go too! Oh well...next time I guess..and maybe this time I will be part of it! Well thats about it I guess. L8eR.

  2. Moonbeamie says This is Steph from class. After reading about all the things to do in St. Cloud, I was amazed! Which, I shouldn't be because I've lived in this area my whole life. I really liked your post, and you gave us all plenty of things to do when we're bored in this town.
