More Backlogging... Ben Kweller in July

is just as good as Ben Kweller in April. Fyi. I love BK. He's the only one (that's still alive) that can rival Mr. Folds in my play count.Set list from the night:1. I Need You Back (OMW)2. Wasted and Ready (Sha Sha)From Sha Sha: 8From On My Way: 5From Selftitled: 4Does it seem a little odd that the newest album had the least amount of plays? Not that I don't love Sha Sha, in fact, it's one of my top albums, ever, however, there are some amazing gems on the NEW album that we could be playing. Yes? Yes. Though, I had not seen Harriet's or Lizzy. OR In Other Words or Wasted and Ready (which was a high crime).Anyway. Getting to this show was a near return of my curse. As you may well have known, I was at camp all of last week, and this show was in the middle of camp. I in fact, left camp early (which never happens) to hit up this gig. Anyway, on Monday my car'd made a weird noise, but then I didn't notice it again, until I was driving home on Wednesday (good call me, because I wanted to be sure I knew how to get to Brooke's, and from camp that wasn't going to happen). And I got out of my car, went to get the mail, and saw that my muffler (which I just typed muggle, fyi) was dragging. BOO. So. I switched cars with my mom, and left for Chi-town. However, my mother was in Madison, so I picked up her car from the parking lot at her work, and the next day my dad had to pick her up from work. I wonder how she felt riding in the roaming landfill? (Not joking. It's disgusting. Beyond what you're thinking.) anyway. made it to the show at about the same time brooke did. she called me, and I was already out of my car walking to the venue. +1 me. I get good luck drivingtime to Chicago sometimes. Just if my car wouldn't hate me.Anyway. The show was fantastic. Ben told us that "Ann Disaster" is Mai's (the merch lady/head of the street team) least favorite song of his ever. Well. Too bad. It's my favorite track off of On My Way!Somewhere in the middle of the set Ben asked his friend Thax a Chi-town poet to come on stage, who had written a poem about BK. Ha. So something very very funny. So, when the encore happened, someone named Mike came up to the front of the stage and requested "Lizzy" because it was his and his wife's 11th anniversary. And BK does it, saying that it was one of the first songs he wrote when he met "his lady" or something like that. But, randomly, in the midst of the song, an ant is crawling on his hand. So he stops, because he's laughing, and has some comment about it being the ant's anniversary too. And had to restart. It was really great.Ben also told us that he's going to be in a magzine's music edition this November. I can't remember what mag it was though. But a big one. I want to say Vanity Fair? That doesn't seem right though. At all. Hum, Brooke, do you remember?Anyway. Met Ben again after the show, took a picture with him, in which I have a rather terrible face/double chin nonsense. So don't look at it. Ben looks like his cute self as ever, of course. Then talked to Mark (the drummer) afterwards, and he told me after I reminded him who I was and my bad luck and all that, and then he remembered. Ha. And he told me I need to stop seeing them, or get a new car. And someone else around us said I needed to get on a big bus like they have. And I told them, if they'd take me!Ha.Pictures: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v654/ChudleyCannons31/Ben%20Kweller%20July%2025%202007/
