MOG MOG

MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Album:
Track:
(196)

As Acid Jazz headed toward the trend dustbin at the beginning of the 90's, what would be called "electronica" was rising up in it's place. At the time of it's release Kruder and Dorfmeister's G-Stoned EP was at the head of the class, in this "new, improved" and better named genre. K and D's work had plenty of jazz influence though (along with hip- hop, reggae, and herb), as evidenced by the sample here (vibes-about 25 seconds in). Can you give me the track and artist? 10 points for each. For me this is another case where sampling pointed me to an excellent song/album, so I'll always be in debt to K+D for that.

Hadn't listened to K&D G-Stoned in a while - excellent stuff made all the better with the Latin Kick. Thanks for the memories old and new, Cody.

Thanks Flood, Studio, Reckon..glad you are liking. The discovery of the link to these 2 tunes has always been something I wanted to share, and only now with MOG would anybody give half a damn..My wife and son are like...SO WHAT CODY, get a life.

I got nothin. Is it Cal Tjader or Terry Gibbs? Oh wait did you give up the answer up there? I'm lost. You know I constantly have these sort of ah-ha moments when I'm watching a movie or TV and I exclaim "did you hear that?!" and Rachel looks at me like I'm from Mars. She doesn't share in my glee for figuring out some obscure sample to something.

I swear I didn't see it but Cal was my first guess but I didn't know the song. You say vibes I say Cal. First thought at least. He's the cats pajamas. I give 5 points to my wife for pointing out that the picture you have above is them doing a Simon and Garfunkle album cover. On another note I always call him Dorkmeister. I can't help myself.

2 points for Dorkmeister..sounds like the beginnings of a SNL sketch about German Electronica producers..7.36 points for the album cover catch

I totally sucked wind on this one. Gotta say I love that K&D cover. They really nailed the Simon & Garfunkel poses. I like the Cal T original to the K&D tune.
