I bought this record because of Robert Randolph. I had been reading about this kid who played pedal steel guitar at his church in New Jersey and was just starting to take his music and message into the clubs. I saw Robert Randolph at the late, great Wetlands Club in Lower Manhattan and at a Central Park outdoor gig before he had a record out. It was amazing. I wanted to buy something, and this was the only record I could find him on and his track does blaze. However, the song (well maybe better to call it a sermon) that stuck with me was this one. If I happened to go to church- this was recorded at an actual service- and I heard this; I might just be compelled to testify. But since I wasn't there, I'll say this: Sacred Steel Live! kicks ass.
CAUTION: Watch your volume on this. for whatever reason, this is an incredibly HOT recording.

If any thing the volume is way toooo low. You really got to turn it up to feel the power of the Lord.
Wait, wait this just in, actual testimony from a Mogger.
"Yeah ahhh .. so I played his track right. I hit clicked on play right, and, and I felt compelled to put my forehead on the screen, right. You know, like .. .just like this and I swear, really I swear. It exorcised all of my demons. True story."
Feel the power! I will be expecting more music like this in the future.
Go to bed already.

Lawdy, lawdy, lawdy! I believe! I believe! (I believe that the pedal steel on that track is smokin' into the Great Beyond.)

I wanted to get priest a long time ago. Now I'm an agnostic. Here we don't have that kind of awakening/revival priests, no gospel, nothing of that kind of stuff. I guess, that's 'cause hardly black people live in the Krauts country, and most white people usually don't have such an emotional relation to god, or at least not such a musical relation. I'm wondering what would have happended back then, in my citical times of disbelief, if a guy like this would have come along. Really wondering ... . I must go out and have a smoke on this one ;).

Right on, Cody! That's what I'm talkin bout! Cassie and I just had quite the enthusiastic jumping-on-bed and clapping-of-hands session to this. I would say more, but she wants to hear it again!
Oh, and I LOVE that Sister Gertrude song, "let's make a record", I was listening to it on a bike ride the other night, and was definitely feelin' it!
