Album: The Burning Of Atlanta
(84)

What to do in Atlanta when you are in town for the Hustler's Convention. Pick up, The Spirit of Atlanta's "The Burning of Atlanta", and groove to the sounds that made the set in '73. Flute fueled funk you won't see or hear on the Travel Channel. So put on your finest vines, sip the finest wines, and relax your mind, while you sample this ATL. classic.

Pimpalicious! I am so at the next Hustler's Convention; track #2's title is hilarious - 'buttermilk bottom'. Thanks Cody B and Happy Funk Friday!

I had never heard boo about these cats, but when I saw it in a record store, with that cover, you know IT HAD to be mine. In fact there is rarely a record with an afro coiffed artist that I'll ever pass up. Would you pass this up?

if you could you are a better man than I.

Cody, assuming you were able to get past the photo, but who could resist "the Lafayette Afro-Rock Band"?

I'll tell you Jonh, when I heard there was a band called the Lafayette Afro-Rock Band (I think from the Ultimate Break and Beats series), it did set off some alarms in my aural pleasure center. As did, The Incredible Bongo Band, Ebony Rhythm Band, and Charles Wright and the 103rd st Rhythm Band.

Great song and great cover. Thanks for the post. For some unknown reason, I find it hard reconciling the sound of this song to life in Atlanta. Except for the reference to Peachtree Street, it sounds like it comes from a more northern city to me. Is there a whole group of bands with an Atlanta funk sound that I just don't know?
