MOG MOG

MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Album: Harlem Underground
(88)

Man, there were a ton of great posts the last couple of days. I love the posts where there are volleys back and forth and more people are joining and adding significant points. Topics that make you wanna get up on the soapbox. I may have gotten carried away over at aclasson's and I might have gotten a little snippy over at Blair's but thats probably because they were thought provoking, button pushing posts. It took another post from Troy to remind me to chill out. Despite all the changes MOG stil rules. So this one goes out to Troy and everyone else who needs to chill. A little funk on Saturday, why not. A '76 concoction featuring George Benson on Guitar.

Amen, Cody. We may rightly take a degree of pride in the civility with which we treat each other, but that shouldn't make us afraid to say what we really think. Gets boring agreeing with everybody all the time. Also unreal. Smart people who aren't sheep are always going to have differing points of view. Let's see, what other self-evident point can I make here.....

But thanks for the reminder that, at the end of the day, this is supposed to be fun.

Great song and great post Cody. While we will not all agree on everything that is posted on MOG, it's always good to at least try and see the other persons point of view

@Mike,You have an excellent voice.... in print

@Rawk-I only made this post so I could look like I was acknowledging others, while continuing to be the ME Mogger I truly am.

RGM, Godspeed brother. It's probably a good idea. Actually, nothing was smoked in the making of this post, it was more the relaxtation/fun vibe of Troy's post that was pushing , nudging me to take it easy

@steve-I had looked for the tune for years, thinking the name of the group that did it was The Mighty Tom Kats. The fact that they did not do the song definitely made my search a little harder!

I'm personally working on my hoochie coochie man status myself. Did anyone mention this is the record that George Benson denied playing on? Or is that a funk myth?

I've tried to tamp down my soapboxing on mog because it never came to a good end but I still enjoy the hell out of reading posts like those. I love passion. And, yes, this song is groovetastic.

@Timothy Ritter- I know Paul Winley, the cat who made this record, was one of the original shady record guys, so I would not be suprised if something untoward was going on. The George Benson part is real a distraction from the song. I liked the song long before I knew he supposedly played on it. It is hard to believe

@chucky- I love it when you prerach

Like I was saying to Tim.It is hard to believe, as popular as he was then, that he would play on this session in 76, but I just dont know.
