THE MUSIC BLOGGING NETWORK

(65)

I lived in the Virgin Islands 94-95 and a small radio station (WIVI) there was stupid enough to let me do my own show. It was Saturdays mornings from 7-11 and it was called "Funk or Die". Each Show started just like this..beware the foghorn.

Wow, tuff as they come. But I'm not sure I'd be ready for that foghorn at 7 on a Saturday morning after a Friday night spent sipping sherry in a tropical night spot.

Wow, that'd get ya out of bed. I can imagine getting up on a hot, sticky island morning and slowly moving around, eating some leftover mango rice or something.

What the heck were you doing in the V.I.'s? Is that where your cache of tropical shirts comes from, eh?

I have said this before and I will no doubt say it again: Cody, you are a god among men. This is deep, deep, deep in the shed and I love it!

Oh sure, Cody. We all know it's front. You're actually an international man of mystery and super spy, aren't you? Music geek and record store schlub is just good cover. Luckily your secret is safe with the Moggers. ;-)

Cody - have you checked out Rhino's "What It Is" Rare Grooves box set. I didn't have a lot of this stuff when I received it under the tree last xmas. Eddie Hazel, Fred Wesley from the Funkadelic and Parliament circle are represented.

Here is a link to the Rhino site:

St.Thomas,Rawk. Lived there for one year. It was OK, but the beaches of St.John is what I remeber best. Beautious.

That track is deep. Lovin' it at 11:00 on a Friday. I wish I could live on an island and have a radio show. Although I don't know how they would take Boredoms or Negativland at 7 in the morning. Great stuff Cody B.
