A laid back but throughly swingin' groove hooked with some guitar work that wouldn't be out of place on Philadelphia International Record from the 70's(Many of which had writing or production from the featured Bunny Sigler), sets the table, but Black Thought's first verse makes this my fav track on the record. He mentions the statue on city hall (William Penn), calls out his neighborhood (South Philly), shouts out to one PIR song (aint no stoppin us now), reps a PIR artist (Bunny Sigler), and recaps his tough childhood (not too much furniture), all in 49 seconds. If I was a record exec I might make this the next single.. Favorite line :"Where I come from/Makin' Somethin' outta nothin/ because everybody 50 cent/ away from a quarter/ where I come from"

Definitely my favorite Roots track from that album. Game Theory has great lyrics all over the place, but that track just keeps it raw.

Weird, because I was just listening tonight to "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" on the radio (Philadelphia station, naturally) and I never realized, underneath that supremely smooth dance groove, how angry and insistent the words are. By the time it ended, I had a lot more respect for the people who made it (wasn't much to begin with, I admit...).
