Cody-I started last week searching out some African music myself.I am listening to Bassekou Kkouyate and Ngoui Ba, their album Sega Blue. great tune.

I'll say one thing..nowadays when I see a turban and an electric guitar I get a little excited. Thank You Michael..that kind of instant gratification is a scary and beautiful thing.

You posted the Congotronics album in response to something I posted many moons ago (under my other alias) and I had the CD rush delivered to me, I loved it so much. I can tell I'm in trouble again on EVERY TUESDAY. Kutesa Kwa Zamu is amazing! note to self: plant money tree STAT.

You can trust the Belgian to know a thing or two about the music of their former colonies -- I'm not saying the Belgium was the most exemplary country when they colonised Congo and other parts of Africa but there's a huge community of true "Africanists" who have a genuine love for African culture.

Oooh, sweet!! This is great. Seems like African Tues can bleed all the way to Funky Friday. This sure is funky! Poofy Pants Department sound like a euphemism, such as "Nature's Bachelor" or "big girl's blouse."

Cody, i was so bummed yesterday that i could not join in but left a little tune in Bill/ivylander's post in the interim to rah-rah along with y'all, and as you know i tried forcibly :} to infuse it in my electro-Brazilian post. those aside, i am super digging the Group Doueh tune you posted and boy i don't think i've ever heard, or even heard of, Konono No. 1 before today.

ps- i did not know Zarpex and Baudolino are mortal enemies, nor the story. i only remember that one of them caused a ruckus about hiphop (or was it someone else?). i should mog more often - too many things seem to pass me by. (:
