Twenty years ago I had a dream about escaping city life, moving to a log cabin (with a big porch) out in the woods somewhere, and just kicking back.Of course being the crazed music person I am, I wondered if I could ever stand to be away from the City, away from the action, away from the record stores!A friend of mine who had already made the move to the country said it would be hard at first, but I would adjust. I had always liked sitting on his porch and so I made the decision to part with evrything but my music and head west for Butte,Montana and a piece of land about 40 miles outside of that old copper mining town. The first thing you notice when you leave the city (and in my last citified act I left at night to avoid traffic) is the sky and the pure darkness. I felt so good, I had traded the eight million stories of NYC for 8 million stars. It was so peaceful, driving those Blue Highways west and I took my time. I had nothing but a stereo, 500 of my absolute must have CD's, and a dream.I decided my trip west should take me through some of my old haunts. Places where I'd lived, loved, and learned enough to know, that I needed to leave them behind. So I stopped in State College, PA, Cleveland, Chicago, and Minneapolis.Just for old times sake, when I visited the Twin Cities, I passed by the Dairy Queen, where I had my first job. The place where I had once served Paul Westerberg a Brazier Burger and a Dilly Bar. Hell I was hungry, too, so I had a Root Beer Float and (my invention when I worked at the DQ) a land, sea, and air burger. Oh yeah, that's a hamburger,Chicken patty, and a fish fillet on a sesame bun, gross I know, but memories are memories. You are probably wondering when the music part of this post is coming, and that would be now..So I was eating the food products I'd ordered and these 2 kids came up to me with a box of CD's, they said they were selling to raise money for their soccer team. I'd never heard of such a thing, but they assured me that my 5 bucks would be well spent and they'd even personalize the cover just for me and I said, What the heck, sure. The name's Cody B.

The tracks looked pretty tight, a little soul, a little rock, some jazz even. I decided i'd save it to christen my cabin in Montana, if I ever got there. As I wrapped up my meal and headed for the door the kids came back and gave me the "custom" insert for the CD. I didn't really look at it,I threw it in my trunk and got back on I-94.42,879,764 stars later I had reached my destination: Rawk Falls,Montana. My log cabin was definitely a fixer upper, but it was no time for that. It was summer, and an incredibly beautiful sunset was melting puple, yellow, orange over the mountains. I quickly set up my stereo and squeezed some fresh lemons I'd bought in town into a big ole canning jar, went out to my porch, and started to live my dream.I slapped on the mystery CD I had bought in Minneapolis and was transported (an understatement). That's about all I remember though. It's funny how things work:
WHEN YOU DIE. Yup, sure enough, I saw the sherrif carting away my carcass form somewhere "above". No cuts, bruises, or wounds, and a smile on my face, but dead as a doornail, nonetheless. Maybe I shouldn't have had the lemonade or maybe I should've read the CD cover, but I didn't and so here I am in limbo. It's not as bad as they say.
