this is a fun one Cody, and open season for contributions.

while waiting for the "reaction shot" and not really going there (yet), i'm surprised Edwin Starr's "25 Miles" didn't make your cut.  it seems like that Stax vibe is a priority in your listening pleasures.  love the B.A.D. track, but would have weasled in "13" by Alex Chilton (Big Star) myself since it just happens to be one of the greatest songs ever.

props for "the other Cody" (Chesnutt) and i wouldn't include this next one but i will admit that i watched Eddy Money do "2 Tickets" opening for the Dead & Santana in Eugene Oregon in '78 while hitching down the coast to Mexico.  the acid made it awesome.

sweet work sir! yeah, lookit that B.A.D. track shinin' up there...you know what I woulda picked for "Eighteen", Brian Eno's "Seven Deadly Finns" ain't in the MOGbrary (though the ST 37 cover is quite convincing) and I'm not sure there's any reason to omit Jim Staffords "16 Little Red Noses and a Horse that Sweats"....I can imagine your whittling was a bit painful.

    What's the significance of.....45.....oh, I see...

Oh the whitlin' wasn't so bad...I tried to..

    1)mix it up style-wise

    2)pick songs I wasn't too familiar with

3)use songs from my library where they made sense

4)it was less on merit (ie. i wasn't going for the "best" song for a given number) and more based on 1-3..

Wait a minute RD..Money and acid! Holy psilocybin, Batman.

Hah! hey RD, I was front row for that same EM tour at Ohio's Legend Valley, though I was there for Cheap Trick and Utopia - Eddie put on a great and memorable show....I think there's pictures...

I know you probably based this on 45 rpm, but you could have gone on with "54-46 (That's My Number)" by the Maytals, "Fomi 47" by Simentera (in fact, there are a few Cape Verdean songs about the 1947 famine),  "Psalm 48" and "Psalm 49" by Prince Far I, "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover" by Paul Simon....

It would probably count as cheating if you had put the Upsetter's "7 3/4 Skank" in just before #8, though.

    Dead/Santana vs. Cheap Trick/Utopia

i guess it's obvious which coast i was on and what drugs.

by the way Cody, in those days, acid=money.

    Baudolino......nice play on 7 3/4!

"3/5 Mile in 10 Seconds" was always a fave.

if you ever get up to "2000 Light Years From Home", i know the Stones covered me but i'm in the MOG database.

    Bravo!

Excellent idea and even more complicated w/ the form you took.Looks like most, if not all are in your collection?

I took a look and the buck stops at 13 for me (but continues on through the teens).  Come to think of it, I have Thirteen by Big Star.

Did you determine variations of #'s ala 11:11 by Rufus Wainwright to be axed?  Seems as if $29.00 is the only exception to that rule.

    Either way, lovin' it.

I didn't think on it too much, E..but I have decided tio look at tunes with a time component next..Have to look at 11:11 for that.

i'm real glad this didn't happen any sooner.  i've been stuck staring at clocks that say 11:11 until they hit 11:12 for YEARS and finally got over the superstition.  thanks for waiting.

5:15's a great scene in Quadrophenia, with John Entwistle kicking ass.

Although it doesn't seem to help a whole lot, searching in iTunes w/ the ":" for songs does work.

Yes indeed E..I did do that in itunes..it's not quite as accurate in MOM...you need to put in the whole time or you get many classical things..

Just added a "Time's Up", a 1-25 playlist and a !@#$%^&*?+= playlist to my iTunes.  The latter is a lot of fun (although there are too many ! songs, perhaps only those w/ 2+ !'s would work).  Oddly, very few w/ $ in 'em.

    Thanks for the inspiration!
