Whoa...truth in numbers = scary stats
Hope you're doing fine otherwise, CB...this shit could surely be an easy exit into depression! :)
/Laf
Itunes Killed the album. Apple is Satan, and no, there computers are not better than Windows based, get over it already.
Golden Tickets = 200 not 5, at least the ones that count
Military Bases: not enough, we need to be in all countries, that way I can see the world without ever spending a $ getting there on my own.(USAF)
% of Minorities/Crime/Economics blah blah blah... everyone has a little voice, it really is that simple, ya just have to shut up and listen to it. Right and Wrong, there is no other way.
If you have almost 15K post, then either you work here, or very much need to get a hobby that includes sunshine and fresh air. Or your Greek, and you don't tell Greek's what to do...... ever..... so Post on Anna!
Lies. Damn lies & statistics.
And what do you make of theses?
No Offense Rawkiddoh
Wow. 9004, 14200, and 20762 comments. Color me humbled.
Well, of "theses", I make it out to be a mispelling of "these", I also attribute it to a strong desire shared by me, for MOG to incorporate an Edit function for post.
I also am hungry........ if anybody cares.
20 comments per day is insane.
Way to be Code. Did you used to do that page for Harper's?
Haven't listened to Wilson Pickett in ages - thanks!
Wow, Jandek. You go man.
Glad to see someone else is giving him press here on MOG. I can't do it all by myself.
I got 15 of those albums and I thought I was a fan.
Nice stat blurb. Freakin Bronx! No way.
heh, I'm still working towards breaking a thousand comments, I am a pisspoor community member, I am humbled as well democlez.
at face value: these numbers are crazy, need time to synthesize their meaning
I don't know why you're all acting surprised.
Apologies to Harper's..
They are just some numbers I've seen recently..I guess I must be in a bad mood, but I'm OK, thanks, Laf. No intent really DMDM..just filler between the MOG stats. I like numbers though.
I agree about right and wrong as long as it is applied across the board..I guess if you really drill down on incarceration, it is the lower classes (regardless of race) that get put away the most..(don't have a citation for that though)
Lightnin' Rod-Hustlers Convention (re:jail time)
It had cost me 12 years of my life to realize
What a nickel and dime hustler I had been
While the real hustlers are rippin' off billions
From the unsuspecting millions
Who are programmed to think they can win
I wish someone would just give me my music dots back so I could shut up:)
I haven't made past that U.S. Census Bureau link yet, what a goldmine!
fnoteluarty, yvu'oe pvoiedrd scufinieft atrduioy sncletioes to ampconacy the drniverioasy tscimeuk.
Joe Jackson must be grinning about now...
You mean this Joe Jackson,right?
Although I think they have the same tailor..
dude, you are scarily spooking me right now...I almost photo-clarified that way, but for work I would have!!
(your spot on with the tailor assessment)
I am procrastinating with unbelieveable skill right now. So wrong..sorry for the spooking. Here's some Spooky Tooth (a fave drum intro of mine-rest of the song, not as much)..pretty scary.
Spooky Tooth-Waitin' On The Wind
If THIS doesn't get you out of your funk, nothing will.
ahh yes, procrastination - my fav pastime! Lovin' the spooky word/tune association, and that fabulous phantom backbeat! That is really quite bent!!
Here's the Tooth's guitarist Luther G. when he adopted a life of vandalism under the moniker Ariel Bender. Where are these flair-laden guitarists anymore anywayz??
Mott the Hoople - "Born Late '58"
lookee there, a Ghost snuck in in the middle of my "phantom" comment!
Thanks Ghost..I have seen that trailer and it looks mighty, indeed! Trot posted the trailer in this thread but alas, it is gone.
Gotta step out for a minute scot..back to eat pie in a minute.
Speaking of Phantom and Ghost, heres a kewl site to get you in the Halloween spirit, guy is a great animator too!
I'm more impressed by the other side of the record sales equation: that bands like the Shins, Arcade Fire, and Modest Mouse can be in the top 5, even if it's by default.
That's cool too..new blood is good blood..chartwise.
It is good...but why are those bands still called indie in that case?
I always thought indie was a descriptor of the label that released the record..not of the sound of the music. I'm so far out o' the business that I don't know who's indie and who isn't but lets see..Shins 2007 record was on Sub Pop (indie), Arcade Fire's 2007 record was on Merge (indie), The mouse is signed to Epic (not-indie). Mouse started indie though..
That's what I'm talkin' bout..stellar pimpy.
That was some boogie-in Pie..
Damn, now I'm hungry, too.
MMMM Pie
:-)
Considering Anna's relative silence as of the last few months, that 20-a-day thing is based on earlier years, averaged out. So in those days, it was even higher.
You know I love stats. Even when they tell a depressing story.
They is what they are..thanks Mark.
Oh yeah, one other thing..are you familiar with B.C. Camplight?..a sort of power popper from Philly.
Never heard of him. Until now.
I wonder if you'll dig him..I'll post a few..perhaps later today.
Realtime truth...sort of: http://www.worldometers.info/
Numbers freak me out!
/L
That is some freaky stuff Laf..nice one.
whats the number of times I have asked, "Is this really it?"
11?
ok that was a lucky guess.........
Get anymore accurate with those numbers and we'll change your name to "Spock."
Didn't figure out until AFTER I played the tracks that the band/singer was listed below the track, not above. Could not figure out why Etta James sounded like John Fogerty. LOL
