Of course it sounds old...perhaps like a Brother Jack McDuff or Grant Green session in '65. The aptly, but not so mellifluously named, Cookin' On 3 Burners come straight out of Melbourne... the latest Australian Raw Funk band (The Bamboos)to jump off the island. I believe Mr.Keb Darge had something to do with their record being released in England.Anyway most of the cuts are instrumental in the mid 60's boogaloo style (Guitar,Drums,hammond b3), but there are some Sharon Jones-style vocals, along with sharp horns blasts, and a touch of funky flute, to add a little flavor to the proceedings.If you like the old folks I mentioned above or Medeski,Martin,and Wood or the Dap-Tone sound this might just be the shrimp for your barbie.Groove here to their breakthrough single,Cressy St Breakdown and hear their cover of the Gorillaz,Feel Good Inc in Comments.Funk On..
