Morlack - Ghetto Butt EP [Funk Blasters]

Posted 8 months ago

Those true funky-breaks fans who really move with the genre and are not keen on the short-lived radio-friendly compositions, could have come across the phenomenon in the last 2-3 years that was given a proper name around last November. This is ghetto-funk. The ass-shaking toughness... Wobbly bass with brass ... Melody and Smash... well, this EP also has got a good dose of that.

The French Morlack has merged the elements of the nu thing into the original recipe with a good measure while composing five easy and catchy, yet vibrant and dynamic songs that are not going to disappoint anyone on dance-floors eighter. Of course, do not immediately think of wallpaper ordenairty. 'Funk Bass' with its six and a half minutes long structure, for example, is not just that average a nu-funk song. 'Mighty Schorch' recalls the memories of the early GoodGroove Records years, when they have exhilarated the young scene. This track here uses rap elements of Method Man as if it was released back then. While, the paino melody after 4,5 minutes in 'Got The Groove' also feels just like sun shining through the window on a nice summer day.

However, also taking the advantages of digital distribution of the release, we'll get one song as a gift!
So, go, donate yourself a few pleasant minutes!
