Which song brings tears to your eyes?

As a teen, my Father taught me what "The National Anthem" meant to him ... and I've never made it through the song without crying since (yes, at baseball games, etc.). As my Mothers dementia progressed, Sara McLachlan's "I Will Remember You" became my weak spot; then while she was dying, Copelands' "Take Care" kept me in Kleenex.
Welcome to my 'cry' songs ... do you have one?

Song's don't often bring tears to my eyes, but I have many that move me because of their spiritual sound and texture.
Here's one I've been listening to a lot lately.
I see what you mean ... that one packs alot of emotion in it! :)
Stupid embedding disable....arg!
Glasvegas - Flowers and Football Tops: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CFyP-nrlkg
For Me?........Emmy Lou Harris........Boulder To Birmingham
holy smokes ... Now I have to add that Glasvegas song to my list ... that's a heart-ripper-outer!!
As for Emmy Lou ... she could sing Twinkle, twinkle little star and pull at my heart strings.
Just posted about this not long ago ... http://mog.com/Dale/blog/1216587
For me it's Marc Cohn " The Things We Handed Down "
and remember Cinful The family is a haven in a heartless world.
sorry I missed yours Dale, somehow you weren't listed as one of my 'trusted's ... and I know you were there. must be my MOG critters again. Really great post, Dale!!
RR43 ... you're totally correct! :)
Don't be sorry, I just wanted to add my $.02. Certainly no harm done. :)
You know Cinful I have been thinking about this since you posted it.. its hard to come up with just one... there are so many songs that seem to bring a tear to my eye.. and so easily... but right up there as all timers are Bernard Fanning - Watch Over me, Evermore - Light surrounding you and Crowded House - Fall at your feet.. just yesterday I posted a Darren Hayes song that hit me fair and square between the eyes as it does every single time I listen to it...and I found myself very teary and mellow...
So I guess the answer to your question is that I am easily touched by beautiful lyrics, and the list is too long... yep thats right I have a very soft underbelly..
Thanks for making me give that some thought.. it was a tough one... ZR x
the waterboys - this is the sea
ZR ... I totally understand what you mean!! I know there are many others that make my throat tighten up, but I guess you could say my post was my "top 3" slobber-bawling songs! LOL!!
Sam ... I hadn't heard that song before ~ that's really deep!! Thanks for sharing it!
Ok, I give. Risking my machoness, I confess at last that there is a song that used to make me misty eyed. That was before I met my current wife. The song here was what played the night my first wife went to the club with me and left with my best friend.
But that was a long, long time ago.
oh, John ... ouch! (and your "machoness" stayed completely in tact!)
:)

Here's a lesson in having too many MOG windows open. I had two open with this post and ended up submitting both, while in between, you commented.
Reminds me of the cartoon where in one frame a professor of Computer Science is telling his class that the computer can do tasks 6,234,556 times faster than the human. And the next frame is an Eskimo surrounded by refrigerators, with the caption being "Funny, I don't remember ordering 6,234,556 refrigerators..
At the risk of embarrassing myself, three jump to mind for a variety of reasons that will go unstated here: Sting's "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You," Foo Fighters' "Everlong," and Elton's "Tiny Dancer." And I don't get all sobby, but I can mist up if I'm not careful.
Awww... I love that song... I love Sarah McLachlan! I find that song touching too.
Anyway, I'm easily touched by sad songs so I'll name 3: "Carry Me Ohio" by Sun Kil Moon, "Good Enough" by Sarah McLachlan, and although I consider Death Cab's "What Sarah Said" as the saddest song I've ever heard, "Marching Bands of Manhattan" always catches me more. :)
Oh and, 4th, "Radiance" by Athenaeum. I don't know why (besides that I love the band lol)
Mike ... no embarassment at all ... we all have our own personal triggers. I also think a majority of Eltons' songs make great cry songs ~ he's been one of my favorites since I was finally old enough to use the record player without someone's help ... you, know 23 years old! j/k :D
dianne ... those first 3 songs are gorgeous!, but I haven't heard of Athenaeum, so I'll be looking them up today (currently it's looking like a tounge-twister to me) :)
