WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

I AIN'T GOT A CLUE WHY I WENT SEEING THIS LOT !!

Right then, back in the 70's,you could walk into the ticket office at the Palace Theatre, the Opera House or the Free Trade Hall in Manchester on a Saturday afternoon with a couple of quid in your pocket and buy a ticket for the bands that were playing that night. They were hardly ever sold out and it was a great way to hear new music and see it being played live. The headlining band usually turned up in a big wagon and the support band in a Transit or Bedford van.The support slogged up and down the country for years in the back of that van, lugging their gear all over the place, getting payed next to nothing just like the headliners did before they became well known,it was their apprenticeship, I should know I did it myself, not like most of the "bands" of today..........get a music creation disc, get on MySpace and with a few prayers you've cracked it !.Oooops, I might have opened a can of worms there.Anyway I bought a ticket for Supertramp (£1) having seen them on TOTP "performing "Dreamer" and wish I had'nt.The support were Gallagher and Lyle (who were unknown at the time ) and Chris De Burgh ( yes him !).All three were vocally and instrumentaly out of tune.I had doubts about buying that ticket and I was right, "Bloody Well Right"!!.

  1. dj ivi says that's too bad. i guess don't buy tickets dubiously! it's been a really long time since i went to a concert to see a band perform live, for this reason. wow, 1 pound? what a deal by today's standard!
