WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Tiny History of a BIG beat!

Posted over 2 years ago
Count with me guys! 'Incredible Bongo Band' did the classic Apache in the early 70's I think and now it is one of hip hop most famous break beats! Here are the songs off the top of my head that have used this here beat!Thought @ work - The Roots, Apache - Sugar Hill Gang, Who are the pimps - BDP, Thats the Joint - Funky Four + 1 more, Missy Elliott uses it in We Run This on 'The Cook Book', Grandmaster Flash uses it in 'The adventures on the weels of steel' and Kool Herc would use it in the early days and most recently (that i can think of) Nas - Hip Hop is dead. It has been used by countless amounts of marching bands and cheer squads (only credible ones that can get down! No 'Go Team!' here).Given that the 'Incredible Bongo Band' did create this beat from the 60's tune Apache by 'The Shadows' (whom must be rolling in it!) This sample gets about in the Rock world and the Hip Hop world! and this is just music! You got to take into account the millions of films and tv series which use this piece of music history...Who can forget Will and Carlton dancing in the Vegas episode of Fresh Prince to Apache by Sugar Hill Gang! And this opened the gates for many many kids in urban and sub-urban areas to dance in circles with ties secured on thier heads! Is it possible to say that this here sample is taking over the world??
