"My Sharona" is such a good song. And I don't mean that crappy radio edit that cuts out most of the guitar solo. I mean song 1, side 2 of Get The Knack. I don't usually care that much about guitar solos, but this one is more than a solo. The entire band builds together over the whole solo section. The speeds up, it gets louder, and when the drummer hits those triplets... ROCK. It's the best thing they've ever done.What a good song.. seriously. The chorus is catchy, the band is focused. The drummer is smarter on "My Sharona" than on other places in the album - not entirely duplicating the rhythm of the guitar riff is so smart. On the rest of Get The Knack, he sounds like he's doing a bad Keith Moon impression."My Sharona" is by far the best song on the album. It's an A-lister on an album on B's and C's. The only thing that saves the album is that it has a thematic thread through all the songs (I'm a sucker for that stuff). Almost every song is about the crazy crush that the singer had on their 16-year-old fan, who I understand was actually named Sharona.I'm sure his girlfriend loved that.
