Blue Plate Special - Will Bernard with John Medeski, Andy Hess and Stanton Moore

If anybody has the chance to see Will Bernard's new side project called Blue Plate Special - please seize the opportunity. I was fortunate enough to watch them last night at the Roxy in Hollywood. Great show! The venue's sound was spot on and band played as one cohesive unit. I'm not sure how many shows they're playing after this weekend (Friday they played in San Fran) but I would definitely see them again if they came back to LA.

A product of Berkeley High's vaunted jazz program, Bernard has cut a wide stylistic path across the Bay Area music scene for more than two decades. A key member of Peter Apfelbaum and Jai Uttal's pioneering world jazz bands, he gained widespread notice on a national level with his groovalicious combo Motherbug and with T.J.
