First we had to deal with Creed and now Evanescence. The Christian rock drama doesn’t stop. After the departure of drummer Rock Gray and guitarist John LeCompt, Evanescence has signed on two new players. New Drummer Will Hunt and guitarist Troy McLawhorn, both members of Dark New Day, first day on the road with Evanescence will be this Saturday’s (May 19th) Rock On the Range Festival, featuring headliners ZZ Top, Hinder, Velvet Revolver and Buckcherry.
That makes the official line-up of Evanescence: Amy Lee (vocals, piano), Terry Balsamo (guitar), Tim McCord (bass), Troy McLawhorn (guitar) and Will Hunt (drums). At this point we don’t think anyone really cares or would notice if the band even changed its name to Amy Lee and Her Sideshow Troopers. But considering that the band’s 2003 debut Fallen sold 15 million copies and their 2006 release The Open Door debuted at Number One and then sold a million copies within five weeks, someone is bound to notice.
Next, Evanescence will spend a month touring in Europe before joining the Family Values Tour with co-headliners Korn on July 20th.
