WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Artist:
Album:

Another 13th has passed and with it The Cure have released a video for the third single "Sleep When I'm Dead" off their forthcoming album. The untitled effort -- tentatively being called mix 13, is the band's 13th studio album -- is promised to be out September 13th. Hopefully by then it will also have a real title. The single was released yesterday with the b-side Down Under.

Personally the video is a little hard for me to watch. Robert Smith has GOT to get himself a new hairdresser. The zombie look is not working for him. (Robbie, baby, if you are reading this hit me up via MogMail and I'll give you the number to my hairdresser Leanne in NYC's Meatpacking District. She'll hipster layer it up for you so it still looks all new wave and shitz.) On a side note: Although a little too repetitive on the refrain ...I like the track a lot.

And here's the Cure performing "Sleep When I'm Dead" live:

I love the Cure.  Always have.

This song is quck and Porl's "wha wha" guitar was sorely missing (when he was out of the band for a while).  I wish they'd bring Roger O'donnel back on keyboards.  That's the one element that's missing (sonically).

Roberts hair?  Yeah, it does seem to have taken a turn towards the just-crawled-out-of-the-trash-rats-nest.  Is he still "pretty" though?  He's a bit older now.  Let him move on from all that glamour boy stuff and back to his pornography-era debauchery! lol.

If he layered his hair then he'd be EMO & we can't be having that ya know, hehe(even though he's the inspiration for many an emo band). Like the song but heard it before in their vast archive of songs(albeit in slightly different configurations), it's nothing new that's for sure. The song plays well live though.

I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl last month, and I'm not going to lie: seeing Robert Smith try to shred using a wah wah peddle was pretty funny.

When happened to Porl?  Did he sign on to be an extra on The Mummy III?

I hear some good old riff's and bass lines!  Yay for them - keeping it old school.

Give RS a break - at least he's bucking the typical middle aged guy with a gut that's terminally bald look - he's kept his hair, albeit not in it's former glory!

Not impressed...meh~ Sorry!  I thought maybe their newer stuff may do the trick.

I've tried getting into the Cure, but they just don't do it for me.
