Earlier this Week Mogger MrFrost brought us the footage of Queens of the Stone Age frontman's Josh Homme tantrum onstage in Norway, after a young fan threw a shoe at him. Today, Homme is clearing the air. No, he’s not apologizing for call the dude a "fucking pussy motherfucker" or for chucking a beer bottle back at the fan point blank. Homme is just clearing the air that he’s no homophobe after using such phrases as "you fucking little faggot" and "you chicken shit fucking faggot."
In an open online letter Homme sympathizes that he has gay family and friends and couldn’t be a homophobe because…well, his band is called Queens of the Stone Age. In his rant Homme debates that he also called the shoe-chucking dude a pussy. "Does it mean I hate our one worlds' collective vagina?" One would hope not. In the end Homme comes to terms with having to be PC in this day age. Instead of telling everyone to go F- themselves (think the other other F word) he simply ends it with a thoughtful "Will you please go have, consensual, sex with yourself." At least someone learned a lesson here.

Yes, he does. He bought a ticket to a show. That ticket gives him the right to go to the show, enjoy the music, scream, dance, whatever. But throw things? Ruin it for other people? No. He threw a shoe, not a piece of paper. Not the end of the world, surely, but it can still hurt or damage something.

I think if I were on stage and I saw a shoe coming at me it would piss me off a bit, too, don't you think? And if that goes unchecked, then what gets thrown next? Ehhh. Performer blow-ups like this, justified or not, make no one look worse than the performer himself. The crowd may seem to be on the singer's side, judging by all the huzzahs, but I am quite sure, having been in an audience when this kind of thing went down (Elvis Costello was the "A-word" in question that night), that many wished he'd cut the macho posturing short, stop spreading the ugly vibes amongst hundreds of blameless people, and get on with the music.
Of course, the kid deserved to be ejected, and the way you get ejected in many venues is to be pulled to the stage and then to one side or the other. Security was not intentionally putting the kid in harm's way.

I don't think he's apologizing to the kid, but to the gay community. I agree with the sentiment that "faggot" no longer means "gay person" in our lexicon. I think it means someone who is weak and has no link to the person's sexuality.
